The University of Namibia (UNAM) was established in 1992 by an Act of Parliament. The university was founded in the aftermath of Namibia’s independence from South Africa in 1990. The University Centre for Studies in Namibia (TUCSIN) is a tertiary educational institution in Namibia. It was founded in 1994 by Dr. David Richard Namwandi, who served as the university’s vice-chancellor until 2010. UM started with only one professor and one student in Windhoek North. Today, it has over 16,000 students enrolled in its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. IUM has campuses in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Ongwediva, and Nkurenkuru.
