The University of Cocody Abidjan, now known as the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny University (UFHB), was founded on January 9, 1964, by the government of Côte d’Ivoire. The University of Cocody Abidjan, established in 1964 as the primary campus of the national University of Abidjan system, is the largest university in Côte d’Ivoire, boasting an enrollment of over 50,000 students. It gained its status as an independent university in 1996 and is dedicated to Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the inaugural president of Côte d’Ivoire. The institution comprises 13 faculties and numerous research centers, offering a broad spectrum of academic, medical, legal, and specialized degrees, ranging from two-year undergraduate diplomas to professional qualifications. Regarded as one of Africa’s top universities, it proudly holds membership in the Association of African Universities.
