Overview

The School of Medicine at the University of Botswana was established in 1982 as the first medical school in Botswana. It is located on the university’s main campus in Gaborone. The school offers a 5-year undergraduate degree program leading to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree. The school’s mission is to “provide high-quality medical education and training to produce competent and compassionate doctors who will contribute to the improvement of health in Botswana and the region.”

The program is accredited by the Medical Council of Botswana and the World Health Organization. The school also offers a Master of Medicine (MMed) degree program in a variety of specializations.
