Overview

The School of Medicine Department (UFR/SDS) of the University of Ouagadougou was created in 1980. It is one of the largest and most prestigious medical schools in Burkina Faso. The UFR/SDS offers a 6-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, as well as a 5-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. The school also offers a number of postgraduate programs, including a Master of Public Health (MPH) program and a Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy (MSCP) program.

The University of Ouagadougou is accredited by the WHO and AMSA. The WHO accredits medical schools that meet its standards for quality education and training. The AMSA is a regional organization that accredits medical schools in Africa.
