In 1999, the University of Ngozi created its school of medicine. It is one of Burundi’s three medical schools. The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Association of African Universities (AAU) both accredit the institution. A group of local and foreign educators who were dedicated to provide high-quality medical education in Burundi formed the institution. In 2000, the first group of students was admitted. The university’s main campus in Ngozi, Burundi, is where the school is located.
Students have the opportunity to complete their clinical rotations in Burundi, gaining experience in the local healthcare system. All courses are taught in English, which makes it a good option for students who want to study medicine in an English-speaking environment.
