Tunis University is the largest and most prestigious university in Tunisia. It is a member of the Mediterranean University Union (UNIMED) and of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie. The university has a strong research tradition, and its faculty members have published extensively in international journals. Tunis University is also home to a number of research centers and institutes, including the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In 2023, Tunis University was ranked 1201-1500th in the world university rankings by Times Higher Education. It was also ranked 201-300th in the Impact Rankings and 351-400th in the Young University Rankings.
