The Kabale University School of Medicine (KABSOM) is a public medical school in Uganda. It was established in 2015 and is one of the six public medical schools in the country. KABSOM is located on the main university campus at Kikungiri Hill, in Kabale Municipality. The clinical departments of the medical school are located at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, the teaching hospital of the school.
The MBChB program is a five-year program that leads to a medical degree. Students who graduate from the program are eligible to apply for a one-year internship at a recognized teaching hospital. After the internship, students are eligible to register with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practioners’ Council (UMDPC) and practice as medical doctors.
