Jimma University offers a 6-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, which is accredited by the Ethiopian Medical and Dental Council. The program is taught in English and prepares students for a career in medicine. The School of Medicine has a strong faculty and staff, and its facilities are well-equipped. In addition to the MD program, the School of Medicine also offers some other medical-related courses, including Nursing (BSN), Public Health (BSHP), and Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacy (MSCP).
The Medicine Department offers a variety of extracurricular activities for its students, including student clubs and organizations, volunteer opportunities, and research opportunities. The school is also a member of the Association of Medical Schools in Africa (AMSA).
