Joseph KI-ZERBO University is the dean and the largest of the Universities of Burkina Faso. Born following the cooperation agreement, signed in Paris on April 24, 1961. First erected in the Ouagadougou Higher Education Center (CESUP) by Ordinance No. 69-024/PRES/ENJS of May 5, 1969; it was not until April 1, 1974, that the University of Ouagadougou (former name ) bore his name by Ordinance No. 74-031/PRES/EN of April 19, 1974. It has undergone several changes (restructuring, foundation, etc.) during its evolution. Joseph KI-ZERBO University is erected into a Public Scientific, Cultural, and Technical Establishment (EPSCT) by Decree No. 2000-469/PRES/PM/MESSRS of October 6, 2000
