The Midlands State University School of Medicine Department was established in 2015 and is one of the newest medical schools in Zimbabwe. The department offers a six-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree program. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become competent and compassionate doctors.
The department has a strong focus on clinical training. Students begin their clinical rotations in their third year of studies and continue to rotate through various clinical departments until they graduate. The department also has a strong research focus. Faculty members are involved in multiple research projects, including clinical trials, basic science research, and public health research.
