Windhoek Medical University, a private institution in Namibia, commenced student admissions in July-August 2022, introducing phase one training programs. However, the university has halted advertising for its professional certificate, diploma, and degree courses. This decision comes in response to the Health Professions Councils of Namibia’s notice, citing the absence of council approval—a mandatory prerequisite under the legislation.
Enrolling in these unapproved programs could render individuals ineligible for council registration, barring them from practical healthcare training and professional practice within Namibia’s healthcare sector upon course completion. The institution is currently addressing compliance issues regarding program approvals to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
